An impostor among us
October 1, 2020
A game unlike any other, “Among Us” is a multiplayer survival game about tiny astronauts. You are assigned a role: impostor or crewmate, and based on that role you must either survive or destroy anyone in your path. The game was released in June 2018 and is just now starting to get the recognition it deserves.
“Among Us” is available on various platforms including phones and computers. This feature allows almost anyone to play the game, however, the phone version is free while the computer version costs $4.99. Personally, I believe the game should be free on both platforms. There is ingame content such as hats or outfits that can be bought to customize your character so money can still be made. Thus having one platform free and the other not does not make sense to me.
I love playing “Among Us” with my friends. It is a great way for all of us to bond and have fun with each other in a safe way. Considering the social distancing guidelines, it has been hard for me to socialize with my friends, but together we can all play the space-themed game and make memories without physically being near each other.
The cool thing is you can either play with strangers or create your own map and host it with all your friends to join. The game also allows you to choose which region you would like to play in which is a great aspect for international players. The downside, however, is that there are still bugs that need to be fixed. Sometimes you get kicked out of a server, experience lag breaks, or are unable to access the loading screen. While the bugs are rather annoying, the game is still playable despite occasional minor issues.
With its fun customization’s of servers and character icons, “Among Us” offers users a great way to connect with each other. Considering everything going on right now, this game has brought us closer together.
