This American Life by National Public Radio (NPR) was our staff’s chosen podcast of the decade. The podcast is a weekly hour-long program is hosted by Ira Glass and is in collaboration with Chicago Public Media.

Podcast of the Decade – This American Life

This American Life encompasses exactly what a podcast should be. Three far-expanding stories with a common theme that all ties nicely into a little bow. Being well-rounded and perfect for a long drive or a well-paced run, it lives up to the name. For example, one of my favorite episodes, “Reunited (And It Feels So Good),” consists of an Iranian couple that moves to America and finally falls in love after 27 years of marriage, a cloned bull, and the french military officer Lafayette. Those are three topics that are seemingly impossible to connect, but that is precisely what makes “This American Life” so unique. It’s a prime example that in a seemingly divided country, we are a lot more similar than we think.
