Before the preschoolers come inside, Early Childhood Education teacher Andrea Lesko prepares lunches, while the high school student-teachers play with the children outside. In years prior, Lesko has an equivalent ratio of preschoolers to high schoolers, so the smaller number has caused a multitude of changes in the way that the Little Patriots classroom runs. “In a typical year, not a COVID year, we would have a lot more high schoolers in this class,” Lesko said. “They would usually be the ones to get the lunches plated and cut up and heated up, but because of this year and the way that the class schedules work, I only have five high school students in this class with 14 preschoolers.”
