Marcela Maya Escalona

Marcela Maya Escalona, Section Editor

Marcela Maya Escalona is a senior at Lake Brantley High School, and has been in The Brantley Banner for 3 years. This year, she is the section editor for podcast, sports, news, and multimedia. She is in the varsity girl’s wrestling team and has been wrestling for a year now. She is the vice president of the Pride Alliance and is also a member of Latinos In Action and Patriot Chorus. She enjoys hanging out with her friends and listening to loud music while driving her mom’s old Volvo. She hopes to be a teacher in the future, but dreams about being a writer.

Junior Tao Chen explains to students how the Chinese lunar calendar works at the Winter Festival. The festival provided an opportunity to share different winter celebrations from different cultures and countries. “I felt proud of myself for sharing my culture with the rest of the school,” Chen said.
