Staff Pick: Washing Your Car

During this quarantine break there are so many different activities you could choose to do –  our amazing staff alone has picked some great options! While washing your car is probably not up at the top of your list, I promise it’s a good one.

One of my favorite reasons for washing cars is that you are able to be both productive and outside at the same time. Washing your car and similar activities can be viewed as chores or just things most people don’t normally do by choice. However, any chance you can take to get outside with some sunshine and fresh air during these times is highly recommended, and you also end up with a final product in which you can take pride. Even though most people are only venturing out right now for necessities, having a clean car is one less thing to worry about once life returns to normal. It gives you time to step away from social media and screens, and putting on music while you work definitely helps to lift your mood.

Another reason I highly suggest blocking out some time to wash your car is the bonding experience it can become. Asking a sibling or family member to help can make things go a lot faster and also makes the whole process a lot more fun. I asked my little brother to help me, and he jumped at the opportunity to aid in the rinse process (including spraying me with the hose any chance he got). Overall, this activity may seem rather unconventional as something fun to do over break, but the experience is what you make it,  and there are plenty of ways to turn it into something enjoyable.
