When the holidays hit the months of October, November, and December they are filled with some of the most fun-filled and cozy nights around. But one key factor that traces each of these month’s holidays is Charlie Brown. Charlie Brown has three famous specials that mark every holiday season.
For Halloween, the Charlie Brown special “The Great Pumpkin” is added to every movie watch list. For November’s Thanksgiving, the Charlie Brown special “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving” is featured in balloon floats and TV memories. And finally, for December’s Christmas, the Charlie Brown special “A Charlie Brown Christmas” is exhibited by every limp and skinny tree around. The characters and memorable moments circle in the memories of everyone, but one of the more prominent features that make the Charlie Brown trilogy so incredible is that none of the movies are circulated on everyday media platforms. So what makes Charlie Brown so memorable?
“It’s always amazing when I see the giant inflatable Snoopy during the Macy’s parade. It brings back a ton of fun memories I have of watching Snoopy and all the crazy stuff he’s done,” sophomore Kyla Herrera said.
One of the things that makes Charlie Brown so iconic are the characters. The dynamic of Lucy and all her flaws, Sally, who inherently complains about everything the characters do, the shy but determined Charlie Brown and of course, the unforgettable dog Snoopy.
“It’s mainly just Snoopy. I have a dog that reminds me of him, and it just makes him my favorite character,” senior Maria Aahwaldrob said.
Another factor has to be the diversity of the movies. The changing scenes and jokes and the different plotlines that still give you the same heartfelt message without it ever getting boring. The smooth jazz and unforgettable beats contribute to every moment. They make long-lasting memories around every holiday that build tradition.
“I know that every Thanksgiving, our family will record the Thanksgiving Charlie Brown special, and we will then just watch over and over for the holiday season. It just brings so much joy to me personally,” sophomore Isabella Wilson said.
Charlie Brown is just one of the classics that causes instant recognition to any who see it. The music, the animation and the classic humor of subtle actions and loud conversations. The heartwarming feeling that it creates and the memories attached are what make Charlie Brown so memorable.
“I mean I’m 17 years old, and I still watch all the Charlie Brown stuff every Christmas and Thanksgiving just for the fun of it,” Aahwaldrob said.
