Chick-fil-A, a well liked fast-food restaurant, has many things to offer customers: salads, sandwiches and most popularly, their chicken nuggets. The Chick-fil-A Nugget meal is something I enjoy normally getting whenever I stop by my local franchise. The meal comes with a drink and the signature waffle fries, and the fries are something I particularly enjoy. Whether dipped in their pairing of Chick-fil-A sauce or plain, these crispy, well seasoned waffle fries always provide the perfect ratio for the nuggets it comes alongside. However, what happens when Chick-fil-A decides to change their fries?
First off, Chick-fil-A decided to add pea starch to the fries, in order to make them crispier for longer, replacing the normal canola oil they were usually made with. However, the presence of allergies is one that this addition seemingly overlooked. This prevents certain people from eating the fries, with many unable to ingest the new starch. This has caused uproar with those afflicted by allergies that are leaving many wondering if Chick-fil-A may return back to their original recipe. Many loyal customers are now left unable to order their favorite side. Was the addition of a crisp-factor really worth the loss of profit and prestige?
Also, Chick-fil-A recently changed the shape of their signature waffle fries to a more compact version with smaller holes, with speculation that they are beginning to switch from the classic waffle fries to normal shoe-string fries. As someone who loves the basic shoe-string potato fry, this change even has me upset as well, with the waffle shape of the iconic fry growing on me immensely over the years. The Chick-fil-A waffle fries are something of a model that, if changed to a compact, mini-shoe string, type design, is sure to see many derogatory responses. So are the fries shrinking due to the prices, or just poor design choice?
Chick-fil-A has been a fan favorite for many Americans, but with these changes having no significant health benefits, and a lot of public negativity, I hope they will go back on these shifts. With their reputation on the line, I hope that when the dust settles everything returns to normal and they will remain a top tier staple in the fast-food world.
