On Saturday Oct. 7, at Eastmonte Park Buddy Ball Field, volunteers from Lake Brantley High School’s Interact Club and the University of Central Florida join together to help give physically and mentally challenged players an opportunity to participate in a baseball game. The volunteers are called buddies and the buddies were divided into groups of two to three and assigned a player. The buddies assist the players in swinging a bat, catching the ball, or running to bases. These games create a bond between the players and buddies and create memorable experiences that will last a lifetime.
Volunteers from various schools wait for the Buddy Ball game to start under a nearby pavilion at Eastmonte Park Bambino Buddy Ball Field on Saturday, October 7. Many attendees went to gain service hours, help out the community, and form new and memorable experiences with new people.
