On the morning of Time Trials, which determines who goes to Semi-Finals, (only the top 12 from Time Trials will proceed), sophomore Mason Walton, junior Brett Feldman, junior Brandon Vick, and junior Logan Turner, who make up LBRA Men’s Junior 4 (J4), sits by their boat, "Perfect Swing." While the temperature at Cooper River Park was 60℉, the constant rain and wind, made the conditions hardly bearable.

LBRA has a tradition, where junior Brandon Vick gets a large Whirly Pop from the Reading Terminal Market in Philadelphia. It is a giant lollipop, which took Vick two and a half days to consume, during his previous visit to Philadelphia.

Riding a subway was a new experience for the LBRA rowers, so they did not really know what to expect. With everyone being so nervous, the tension filled the air, as did the foul smell.

“I love to solve Rubik’s Cubes because they keep me busy and they challenge my brain,” junior Brandon Vick said. “I began solving Rubik’s Cubes when I saw someone else do it and it seemed interesting to do.” Vick solved this Rubik’s Cube in about 45 seconds.

A bow card is typically used in Head-Style races, and it signifies the boat order as well as the event in which you will race. There is a tradition in which the coxswain is the one who keeps the bow card. The coxswain of LBRA Men's J4 boat was sophomore Mason Walton.

After racing in brutal conditions and enduring a 30 minute delay, which was spent sitting at the starting line in the unrelenting rain and chilling wind, LBRA Men’s J4 got with their coach, Troy Parrish, for a photo by a POW MIA Memorial. They then proceeded to watch the last 500 meters of LBRA Women’s J4 race.

After arriving in Philadelphia for the Stotesbury Regatta at around 1:00 p.m., and making a lap around the race course to get a feel for it, the team stopped at Zio’s Brick Oven Pizzeria for dinner to get some fresh and delicious pizza. Sophomore Alex Garofalo, who is Italian, felt right at home in the Italian Pizzeria and devoured seven out of the eight slices of an eight-inch cheese pizza, which had been made just moments before.
