Brooke Presimone, Junior, Starlets Dance

Are there any new regulations that you know about and how do you feel they are impacting you?

“A new regulation that is affecting me and dance would be that we have to wear a mask while we dance and it’s hard to breathe when dancing and to move around, which can be annoying.”

Why did you choose to play this season?

“I decided to do dance during the fall this year because I love to dance and need it as a way to relieve stress and keep myself happy. I was willing to do any version of dance team the school would provide this fall.”

What do you hope to get from this season?

“I hope to get as much normal as we can this season, even with everything going on and just really have fun with my team and grow as a dancer”

Mayson Cooney, Sophomore, JV Volleyball

Are there any new regulations that you know about and how do you feel they are impacting you?

“This season we have to wave across the court instead of shaking hands with our opponent and we no longer have captains meet in the beginning of the game, just the coaches. Also, when we sit on the bench we have to wear our masks and I think that it limits our ability to get to know the other team and the refs before the game and the masks block our ability to effectively cheer each other on.”

Why did you choose to play this season?

“I decided to play this season because I really enjoy playing and I was willing to follow whatever guidelines I had to due to COVID.”

What do you hope to get from this season?

“I hope that, this season, I can get close to other players and that the team, as a whole, can play their best with 100% effort for every game.”

Mackenzie Quinn, Freshman, Volleyball

Are there any new regulations that you know about and how do you feel they are impacting you?

“When we get off the court, onto the bench, we are supposed to wear masks, but it really stinks because you’re so hot and you’re breathing really hard from being on the court.”

Why did you choose to play this season?

“Honestly, I haven’t played in forever and I really just wanted to see the talent of the girls and be able to be a part of it this year, even with Corona.”

What do you hope to get from this season?

“I really just want to win every game we can, get closer as a team, and build some friendships.”

Katherine Jucker, Junior Varsity Girls Soccer Coach

 What sport are you coaching?

“I coach JV Girls Soccer.”

Are there any new regulations that you know about?

“I don’t really know, but I’m sure there will be some. I mean they probably talked about them, I’m just not in season yet, so I don’t know. I’m sure there will be some social distancing.”

How do you feel these regulations are going to impact the team this season?

“It seemed fairly normal. You know, yeah there are people that had to come in wearing masks and the fans were separated some, not completely, it could’ve looked like any spattering of fans, but I didn’t see it to be super different.”

Why did you decide to coach again this season?

“It is that connection to the girls in a different way than in the classroom. You can talk to young people and it’s just fun to be around young people, and then, in that capacity, to see them grow as athletes. When my kids went off to college, I was kind of an empty nester, I was like ‘I just want to do this and be a part of that group and see kids in a different way.’”

What do you hope to get from this season and what do you hope to see from the team?

“When you play JV soccer, there’s a lot of kids who have played, kids who haven’t played, and I think it’s just coming out, working together as a team, and feeling the success. You can see them in practice everyday where someone finally learns something and they understand what the concepts of soccer are.”
