Thespian district one act

On Oct. 23, members of the drama department performed their yearly competition piece for the District 3 one-act festival that usually takes place at Lyman High School. This year, COVID-19 placed its share of restrictions on the annual event, changing how it would operate. Instead of an in-person festival, the rules were modified and individual schools had to record their pieces and submit them for judging. This year, Troupe 2888 put on “Proof” by David Auburn, a show about a looming family tradition of mathematical genius and mental illness. Due to fears of the show being cut short if a cast member came in contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19, director Chase Cashion decided to double-cast the show, ensuring there would always be an actor to play the part. Even during a pandemic, the show must go on.
